Ian Leftley

This month we thought we would approach the TEN staff biography from a slightly different angle.

Ian Leftley is our first victim, so let’s just jump right in and put Ian in the TEN spotlight.

Ian has been at TEN for just over 14 months. In this short(ish) time TEN has evolved and grown significantly. With greater demand for tool repairs, servicing, machine hire and training, Ian has certainly stepped up to the plate.

As workshop supervisor, Ian responsibilities are many, including the evaluation of tool maintenance, repair, parts purchasing, on and off-site machine repairs and maintenance, and machine operator training.

As a certified Tesmec Trainer, Ian qualified on Tesmec machine maintenance and operations at the manufacturers headquarters in Bergamo, Italy. Through an extensive two week program, Ian has certification for the Tesmec  range of hydraulic pulling and tensioning equipment.

To ensure Ian meets Australian regulatory requirements Ian is also a Cert IV Trainer and Assessor.

When asked about the challenges of working at TEN, Ian says, “Working remotely on machines has its own set of diverse challenges. To compensate for the complexity of managing remote situations we now have procedures and kits prepared to enable us to work effectively.”

“As a company, we understand that we must deliver the highest standards of service and support. Part of my  responsibility is to understand how we can plan and provide that support in an industry which demands the highest levels of quality and integrity in safety, training, repairs and maintenance”.

Ian’s passion for metal reaches beyond his work. As a gifted metal shaper, Ian works steel using a hammer and furnace and has recently completed a blacksmiths course.

On a personal note, Ian also plays the guitar and his favourite album is Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’
