HV inline switch, 600A, 38kV BIL, 66kN with Load Break Arc Chute

The Chance ALTD06200RL Line Tension Disconnect Switch - often referred to as an inline disconnect, isolator, or inline switch, is a specialised device temporarily installed directly into HV distribution lines. Its primary purpose is to provide a reliable, physical break in the circuit, used to isolate and de-energise sections of the network for maintenance or fault management.

The Chance Line Tension Disconnect switches are a single phase stick operated switch, for manual switching of overhead lines up to 38kV, 200kV BIL (Basic Impulse level – surge up to 200kV). They are rated for 600A continuous current.

With the addition of the arc chute, the arc chute rapidly extinguishes electrical arcs that form when the switch opens under load. It works by confining, cooling, and splitting the arc into smaller segments to prevent damage to the contacts and surrounding components.
